While working full time for non-profit agencies, I began a part time private practice in 1997. Shortly after, as Coordinator of the Anxiety Treatment Center at St. Clare’s Behavioral Health I acquired extensive training and experience helping people regain the lives they want to live by effectively managing Anxiety Based Disorders, including Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Specific Phobias, Illness Anxiety, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder in Children, Adolescents & Adults. In that position, I had the opportunity to train colleagues and clinicians throughout the Hospital system, and to also educate the public about effective treatment for anxiety disorders.
As an active member of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) and the International OCD Foundation, I’ve attended National Conferences and specialized workshops, gaining skills and techniques from leading experts in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and the assessment and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety and Specific Phobias.
This training, along with years of professional experience puts me in a unique position to help children, adolescents and adults overcome social, professional/academic and emotional limitations resulting from the struggle with anxiety-based disorders and depression. My years helping families and children touched by domestic abuse, trauma and debilitating anxiety and mood disorders, allow me to guide clients through the day to day challenge of difficult interactions and past struggles, to build positive, satisfying relationships, and achieve the goals they dream of for themselves.
I am currently a Clinical Fellow for the ADAA and a member of their OCD Special Interest Group, consulting with the country’s leading experts on a monthly basis, and contributor to their website, you may view my writing here. I am also certified to conduct Clinical Supervision for other professionals, which I provide as part of my practice.
I received my BA in Psychology from Vassar College, spent one year in the Masters Program in Psychology at the New School for Social Research in Manhattan, before receiving my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in New Brunswick, NJ. I brought my private practice to full time status in May 2014.
